Tranquillo gentle reader (or readers if this is an especially good traffic day for my blog) – our Amazonian journey will continue – next Thursday. And I will be blathering on about tattoos soon – probably next Tuesday. But my husband is “working from home” this week which so far this morning has involved the following;
- 90 minutes of acoustic guitar playing – which admittedly sounds cool except – he started at 5:30am and my house is the size of a shoebox – if you cut that shoebox in half. And he can not technically play guitar.
Recounting of my son’s favorite You Tube videos from the night before including; “Bride falls in Water” and http://
and “Man Farts at Council Meeting”
- Blow by blow account of how my husband has finally solved the Rubik’s Cube. No Shit. He watched some algorithm video online and fucking solved it. He even texted me a picture at work.
An in depth discussion of the appropriate gift for a 16th wedding anniversary (this weekend) – which he researched – and do I really want an ice bucket or can he just make dinner.
I haven’t even had coffee yet.
To quote my former travel buddy Paul – I’m knackered and I simply do not have the strength to visit the Amazon today BUT I have a treat for you…
I am fairly new to blogging and I learn a little bit more about this satisfying albeit wacky world every day. So far my favorite aspect is without a doubt – other peoples blogs. I am always thrilled to see certain “new posts” show up in my reader and email and make a point to read and comment on my favorites.
So today I am listing my FAVORITE blogs that I have discovered so far AND what role these particular bloggers would play on my theoretical desert island. If your blog is not here – well, that’s not much of a tragedy to be honest. But if it is please know that your blog is one of the reasons I even bother to do this every week. That and if I look busy my husband may put down the mentos/diet coke rocket he just made from our trash and leave me alone – for like 15 minutes.
So in no particular order here are the bloggers I would like to take to my Desert Island;
1. Aussa Lorens www.aussalorens.com
Now you’ve probably already seen Aussa’s blog – she is soaring in popularity and for good reason. Her writing is sharp, her insights witty, and she appears to have no internal rudder that prevents her from making one poor judgement call after another. Luckily for us she writes about it regularly. I am assigning Aussa Field Scout and Activities Director for the island – should keep things interesting.
- Michelle of www.rubbershoesinhell.com
Michelle runs another very popular blog where she details her work and personal life with shocking hilarity. She never pulls her punches and makes the best use of the F word I have ever seen – repeatedly. For this reason I will ask Michelle to be in charge of Human Resources and Moral on the island. Go ahead and complain to Michelle about the sand fleas or the lack of wifi – let me know how that works out for you.
3. Maurnas of www.cursitivity.wordpress.com
Maurnas covers a range of topics – most recently vomiting at Disneyland. She is honest. She is funny. She comes across as a little cracked in all the right ways. If it wasn’t bound to freak her out I would give her a hug or a high five and ask her to be my spirit animal. I’m not sure if she is qualified but I would be strangely comforted if she would accept the position of Island Medic. Maurnas may not be able to heal you but she won’t make it any worse. I think.
4. ReDdog of www.shedreflections.wordpress.com
We have to have a least one dude on the island otherwise it will be all “Moon Cycle” this and “You are my BFF” that. Gag. ReDdog is not only an epic blogger – his articles are in depth and truly entertaining – he is also an epic commenter. I see his gravatar all over the place and he always has something positive to say. Invaluable he is so I am making ReDdog the Island Yoda – there to sooth and guide. And to lift heavy shit and change the really high up light bulbs.
- LVital7019 of www.wtfelsewhere.wordpress.com
Now I have to confess LVital was one of the first people to comment on my blog – she even let me post a pic of her memorial tattoo of her dad AND she showed my how to hyperlink so she holds a special place in my blogging heart. She has also been writing and blogging for a long time and could be a sister wife to Michelle in her flamboyant use of the F Bomb. I think if we all start to get on each others nerves LVital could step into the mix and settle us down with her wit and wisdom – or at least tell us to knock it the fuck off with panache. Therefore I am making her Island Den Mother. Her word is law. Don’t piss her off.
6. Finally I’m reaching out to Steph of www.wedontchewglass.wordpress.com
Just the name of her blog underscores how much common sense this woman has because we Don’t chew glass, do we? No, Steph…thanks to you we don’t. Also Steph seems like the kind of person who has seen and done a lot like, oh I don’t know- given a ride to a hooker and almost gotten stabbed so I think we can all learn from her mistakes. Steph will be Island Guidance Counselor which may seem like an uneccesary position until you find yourself holding that puffer fish and thinking “should I lick this” – that’s where Steph will work her magic.
Now this list is incomplete especially in the realm of man-candy (Sorry ladies, ReDdog is taken) so I will let all island prisoners er participants bring three things (and please share in the comments)
Boy Toy (you don’t have to share)
Favorite Book or Board Game
(your sharing the last two).
And if you didn’t make my list and wish you had…time to reevaluate your life goals. No, just kidding. I always love finding new blogs to read so comment with a link to your blog and what you think you would be good at on the island – the more the merrier!
Shit…here comes my husband again. Looks like he caught a snake in a bucket…sigh
