Here is another addition to my Artists I Adore series – and it’s a good one. Tattoo artist Jeff Gogue sets the bar very high for what can be accomplished in the world of tattooing. Now I could go on and on how superlative his work is but….I’d rather let his work speak for him.
And that is the proverbial tip of the iceberg. Here are a few quick facts about Mr. Gogue; he has been featured in a “couple” of tattoo magazines, he is an accomplished painter, he has offered online tutorials and hosted live workshops and he is the owner of 26 Swords in Grants Pass, Oregon.
Jeff’s beginnings in the world of tattoo were humble. An avid artist from a young age he had never considered tattooing as a career until a back injury and encouragement from a friend set him off on a new path. He found the world of tattooing closed off and hard to make inroads into but he persevered and his talent, hard work, and determination won out. Fifteen years later he is one of the undisputed masters of the tattoo world.
Jeff Gogue is also one of those rare combinations of huge talent and a modest demeanor. This is not a big swinging ego kind of guy. He not only gives back to his industry by offering assistance to serious-minded tattoo artists eager to learn but also teaches at the local college where his daughter attends. A family man with a strong work ethic and sense of community – not to mention jaw-dropping talent. The tattoo world is proud (and lucky) to have him.
